When comparing numbers, there are three different symbols. There is greater than, less than and equal to. The symbols are (>,<,=). What does this mean? There are three different ways to compare a number. For example the numbers 5 and 7. Which is the greater number? 7. Which is the smaller number? 5. Therefore, we would say 5<7 (5 is less than 7). Now what about the numbers 12 and 10. We would say 12>10 (12 is greater than 10). Lastly, what about the numbers 4 and 4? Are they the same number? Are these two numbers equal to each other? Yes! Therefore, 4=4 (4 is equal to 4).
Please keep in mind: the "=" sign is not only for number sentences. The equal sign means both numbers are equivelant (equal) to on
both sides.
